Two decades in media.
Before the studio, before the ecosystem — a professional career across Indian and Nepali media, and a personal archive of Nepal.
In 1980, Shiva Lal Shrestha began a professional career that would span more than three decades, two countries, and every format available to a visual storyteller.
ZeeTV India
At ZeeTV India, Shiva worked inside one of the largest broadcast operations in South Asia — an environment that demanded precision, speed and editorial discipline at national scale.
The years there shaped a working method: watch carefully, wait for the right moment, capture nothing that isn't true.
Photo Hollywood Nepal
Back in Nepal, Shiva joined Photo Hollywood Nepal — one of the country's most established visual media institutions. The work expanded beyond broadcast into commercial, cultural and documentary photography.
By the early 1990s, the visual-documentation legacy began. Weddings. Portraits. Cultural work. A personal archive began to form.
The archive begins
Across the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, Shiva's personal archive grew into one of the most significant private visual records of Nepal — its people, its places, its rituals, its transitions.
Much of it was never published. All of it was preserved.
Three decades of discipline, quietly held. Then, in 2012, they became a studio.
