Shiva Lal Shrestha
Founder · Photographer · Visual Storyteller
Four decades behind the lens. Founder of Tasveer Studio. Creator of a personal archive that has become one of Nepal's most significant private visual records.
The Foundation
Shiva Lal Shrestha began his professional career in 1980 at ZeeTV India — one of the largest broadcast operations in South Asia. The years there shaped a working method: watch carefully, wait for the right moment, capture nothing that isn't true.
Back in Nepal, he joined Photo Hollywood Nepal, one of the country's most established visual media institutions. The work expanded beyond broadcast into commercial, cultural and documentary photography.
By the early 1990s, the visual-documentation legacy had quietly begun. Weddings. Portraits. Cultural work. A personal archive that would eventually span more than four decades.
Tasveer Studio
In 2012, Shiva founded Tasveer Studio in Kathmandu. Two decades of professional practice became the foundation of a new house. Photography. Film. Weddings. Commercial production. Cinematic storytelling.
The Archive
Today, Shiva's personal archive stands as one of the most significant private visual records of Nepal. More than four decades of its people, its places, its rituals, its transitions. It is now being digitised, preserved and prepared for what comes next.
The camera should disappear. When it disappears, people behave as they would without it. That is when the story becomes real.
